Eau Claire home heavily damaged in fire; no one hurt

A house is heavily heavily damaged after a fire early Thursday morning in downtown Eau Claire. Crews were called to the fire at 618 East Grand Avenue at 12:36 a.m. Thursday, according to a release from the Eau Claire Fire Department. The two-story home is located across from University Park and down the street from the Eau Claire Area School District Office. The Fire Department said no one was hurt because of the fire. The Fire Department said in a Facebook post that they arrived to find a fire in the ceiling of the first floor of the home and all of the residents were able to evacuate. The fire had extended its way into the second floor and the attic. At 4:50 a.m. the Fire Department said the fire was brought under control.
