Madison Fire and Police Departments have completed ventilating a building on Madison’s east side following a weekend gas leak. A man first knocked on Fire Station #8's door just after 3 p.m. Saturday to alert firefighters of the smell of natural gas, MFD said. Crews were dispatched to a building on the 1700 block of Eagan Road, near the Princeton Club east location. After working with Madison Gas and Electric to take gas readings and ensure that they were below explosive levels, first responders shut the gas off and opened the building to let it ventilate. Officers used “Reverse 911? and went door to door evacuating the Eagan Road block. They secured a wide radius around the building to keep bystanders away while it aired out.
