VIDEO: Two on-duty Milwaukee firefighters were struck while shoveling snow in front of a fire station just north of 91st and Appleton Avenue on Monday morning, Jan. 24. Officials say around 7 a.m., a driver left the road, struck the firefighters and then the fire station itself. Surveillance video shows the moment they were struck. Both fire department members, a 38-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, were hurt and taken to Froedtert Hospital by paramedic units. They were evaluated and released, expected to recover at home over the next few days. "It is dumb luck and the grace of God that we're not dealing with a fatality or a critical injury here today," said Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski. "Because to put a firefighter between a sliding vehicle and the building creates a very, very different outcome here."
