One person died Monday after a trailer fire in Wood County.
Fire crews responded around 3 p.m. to a trailer on Frey Court that had thick, black smoke coming out of it, according the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department.
Fire officials said crews tried to check for people inside, but they had to back out because of the heavy smoke.
Firefighters knocked down the flames and cleared smoke and found a person dead on the floor.
The Marshfield Fire Rescue Department and Marshfield Police Department are investigating the fire. They haven’t determined the cause yet. Fire officials estimated it caused about $15,000 in damage to the structure and $10,000 to things inside.
