A child and mother are being treated for injuries they suffered in a house fire. It happened just after 9 a.m. Wednesday near South 5th and West Madison streets in Milwaukee. Firefighters said a child and his or her mother suffered burns. They were outside when firefighters arrived and did not have to be rescued. The two were taken to a hospital for treatment. They were expected to be OK. Officials have not released their names. A family friend said there were five children at home when the fire started. The house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. It took about 65 firefighters more than an hour to get that fire under control in the extreme cold. "It went up real quickly. It was just a matter of minutes from just smoke to full flames out of every window," said a good Samaritan who did not wish to be identified.
