A car went into a ditch and rolled over several times on southbound Racine Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the New Berlin Fire Department.
The car landed on its roof and the Jaws of Life were needed to free the one person inside, according to a news release from the fire department. The patient was taken to the Level 1 Trauma Center at Froedtert in Wauwatosa, the release said.
It took about five minutes to free the person from the car with the fire department's new cordless tools, the fire department said. The tools were put into service just three days ago, and this incident on Sunday was the second time firefighters had to use them, according to the news release.
