An exhaust fan fire caused about $10,000 worth of damage to a De Pere apartment complex Tuesday morning. Crews were called to 1015 Coral Street on the city's east side around 9 a.m. for a report of a fire in a second floor bathroom. All occupants safely evacuated and within minutes, crews extinguished the fire. The damage was contained to the bathroom where the fire started. No injuries were reported. The occupants of the unit where the fire started are receiving help from the Red Cross. Investigators are working to determine what caused the exhaust fan to start on fire. Firefighters are reminding everyone to check their smoke detectors and batteries to confirm they are working every six months.
