One local fire department kicked off Fire Prevention Week with a brand new engine. The Westby-Christiana Fire Department debuted its 2022 Rosenbauer Commander Engine today at its open house. This engine was purchased by the department, and replaces one from 1992. It seats eight people, can hold 2,500 gallons of water and can pump up to 1,500 gallons per minute. The department welcomed the community in to check out the engine this afternoon. Fire Chief Spencer Lee says the timing worked out perfectly with Fire Prevention Week. “The community can come see all of our equipment, and learn more about what we do and what we have to offer. What kind of equipment we use– and we can teach them a little bit about fire prevention methods,” Lee said.
