VIDEO/PHOTOS: It was an action-packed graduation ceremony in Green Bay for 17 firefighters. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department held its Fire Academy Graduation demonstration on the NWTC campus Thursday. In March, 17 recruits began an 11-week course on fire and EMS skills, specific to the department and the city of Green Bay. “We push them to the limits both mentally and physically to make sure that they can meet our expectations on the fire department and so the community knows, they’ll meet that need," said training captain Kyle Lauf. While family and friends watched, the recruits showed off what they learned at the NWTC Public Safety Building. Firefighter Natalie Boney says she's excited to start her career with Green Bay. “It’s a little bittersweet just because we’ve really bonded and just had so much fun throughout the whole academy and we’ll all rooting for each other and we’re all looking forward to seeing each other on the floor, but it’s exciting," she said.
