Since 2014, firefighters and law enforcement officers from the city and across the county have gotten together to raise money to help veterans from all branches of the service. On Monday, they will reveal a veterans' memorial purchased through their fundraising efforts.
At noon Monday, officials will unveil the $90,000 memorial, paid for by nine local sponsors, according to a news release sent by Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas. Guns N' Hoses of Portage County will host several guests to speak in honor of the unveiling. The unveiling will take place at the southwest corner of Pfiffner Pioneer Park, 1100 Crosby Ave. It is located behind the Chase Bank building.
