A house fire broke out in Merrill.
At around 12:29 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, the Merrill Fire Department (FD) responded to a fire at 500 East St. Merrill Police arrived first on the scene and had blocked the road, accompanied by the residents of the house who escaped the fire.
Merrill FD trucks immediately noticed visible smoke coming from the area while leaving the station. Upon arrival to scene, the first fire trucks were met by heavy fire on the exterior of the home. By this time, the fire had spread across the north part of the home. Firefighters used a 2.5 inch attack line to extinguished most of the exterior fire.
Once other agencies arrived to the scene, firefighters started making their way inside the house. They found minimal fire damage but extensive smoke damage. Salvage and overhaul operations were performed.
