The Tomah Fire Department has released new details on a structure fire that displaced ten people on Sunday.
According to a release, firefighters were dispatched to Superior Avenue in Tomah for a report of a fire in the apartments above the Peking Chinese Restaurant at 7:51 A.M.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported seeing fire coming out of an exterior window.
Tomah police officers also responded to the call. Upon arrival, officers helped evacuate everyone from the building.
47 firefighters from the Tomah, Oakdale, Fort McCoy, and Volk Field Fire Departments battled the blaze for roughly 11 hours.
The American Red Cross also responded to the scene to help those who were displaced.
Tomah Fire Department thanked Kwik Trip, Murrays on Main, and the Tomah Senior Center for providing food and shelter to the first responders who were on scene.
