VIDEO/PHOTOS: One person was taken to the hospital in what Dane Co. authorities describe as a duplex fire in Verona.
The Red Cross is helping both families who live in the duplex, according to the Verona Fire Department. Responding crews in addition to Verona response involved Oregon, McFarland, Cottage Grove, and Fitchburg.
Fitchburg Fire Chief Joe Pulvermacher said the fire began in the second story of the duplex, spread to the attic and entered the second space of the duplex. Fire crews had the fire extinguished by approximately 4a.m.
Dane Co. dispatch says the call came in at 3:05 a.m. Monday morning. The 300 block of Llanos Street from North Edge Trail to Enterprise will be blocked off while authorities investigate what caused the fire.
