Update: Victim in fatal Tomah fire identified

A 61-year-old man is identified as the person killed in a fire at a Tomah motel earlier this month. On Friday morning, Fire Chief Tim Adler released the identity of the person who died in the September 19 fire at the Daybreak Motel at 215 E. Clifton Street. Brian Mark Mallory was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time, a cause of death wasn't immediately determined. An autopsy done the following day in Madison at the pathology department at the University of Wisconsin determined that Mallory due to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Chief Adler said that the cause of the fire was listed as undetermined after an investigation by the fire department, Tomah Police, state Department of Criminal Investigation, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and ATF.
