VIDEO/PHOTOS: Beaver Dam’s new fire training facility is used by firefighters almost daily, according to Deputy Fire Chief Lee Smith. On Saturday, community members got a chance to see the inside of the three-story structure.
An open house featured the Fire Department’s vehicles as well as the training facility. Located on the 600 block of South Center Street, behind the former Beaver Dam DPW building, the facility has been used since last spring. American Fire Training Systems designed the tower. It was manufactured in Illinois, delivered to Beaver Dam, and assembled onsite.
“It is a three-story training tower, and it has two burn rooms,” Smith said. “Then we have panels inside that you can adjust the rooms and make different layouts.”
The top floor and balcony allows firefighters to do simulated rescues off the tower, Smith said.
