VIDEO: The La Crosse Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday night. According to the LCFD, firefighters responded to the 2500 block of Harvey St. around 10:15 p.m. after hearing reports of a possible house fire. There was heavy smoke coming from the basement and the back of the home. The fire was contained to the basement area and crews were able to put it out quickly. The resident told News 8 Now that he was in the house when the fire started, but he evacuated before the LCFD arrived. There were no reported injuries at the scene. The Red Cross helped with finding temporary placement for the resident due to the home experiencing moderate smoke and fire damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
