The Milwaukee Fire Department knocked down a sizable chemical fire at an industrial manufacturing facility. The first calls came in for heavy smoke and fire on Glenbrook Court around 5:30 on Wednesday, Sept. 20. The Milwaukee Fire Department arrived within minutes to find a two-thousand-gallon drum of oil on fire It was next to several other drums. MFD called in extra crews as they switched to a defensive attack. They were able to contain the fire to the one vat of oil. "We use foam because it can essentially create a blanket to cover that, reducing the exposure to oxygen. So that's what it was for. We use it on gasoline fires, other petroleum fires, things of that nature," said Assistant Chief Schuyler Belott. No firefighters or employees of the business were reported injured.
