The City of Madison announced on Monday that a third CARES team has been activated to respond to calls for service on weekdays. ‘CARES 3' will be on duty from noon to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will respond from the old Town of Madison fire station on Fish Hatchery Road. The team will allow the program to expand its service capacity in response to ongoing demand. These teams respond to non-violent behavioral health emergencies that do not require law enforcement. Each CARES team has a Madison Fire Department community paramedic and a Journey Mental Health crisis worker. Mayor Satya Rhodes- Conway says this program will continue to fill a gap in the community.
