VIDEO: Multiple fire departments from Brown County responded to the scene of an apartment fire in Howard late Wednesday night. An Action 2 News reporter on the scene tells us that crews got the fire under control shortly after arriving and began looking for any remaining hotspots. The fire was contained to one unit and one family was displaced. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. “The Battalion Chief got on scene and reported smoke coming out of the alpha side of the building here,” said Dennis Staeven, the Fire Chief for the Village of Howard. “And then first arriving engine company stretched it into a 3-quarter line and able to get a knock on the fire and get a good stop on it. But the units on scene overhauled and we’re just checking for some hotspots. Any kind of extension and trying to get the occupants back into their apartments here.”
