VIDEO/PHOTO: A fire broke out at a barn near Wausau Friday morning.
The call came in between 5:00 and 5:30 Friday morning. Rick Walters is the Town of Texas fire chief and said the barn was fully engulfed in flames upon the arrival of firefighters.
Around 12:30 in the afternoon, there was still smoke billowing from the barn as well as some small remaining flames, but Walters said the fire had been contained and that there was no concern of it spreading. He said that wind and the thick mud surrounding the barn made it a challenging fire to fight, and that firefighters used roughly 44,000 gallons of water to put it out.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and Walters did say there are no leads, and ultimately finding the cause will be a difficult.
No one was killed or injured, but the owner of the property, Adam Bussan, said that several pigs were lost in the fire.
