PHOTOS: Six decades is a long time to be doing anything, especially fighting fires.
Roy Bohm, an Amherst firefighter, has served his community for over sixty years and is all about helping his community while giving back. Fighting fires, and helping people in their darkest moments is all Bohm has ever known. From the Vietnam War to fighting fires, there isn’t a lot the firefighting veteran hasn’t seen.
Bohm said, “I started 1963, and so I've been at it for 60 years. I enjoy it."
For Amherst Fire District Fire Chief, Victor Voss, it’s nice to have someone with Roy’s experience responding to emergency situations.
Voss said, “He does bring this ere of relief to a fire chief when you have somebody that knows their job, does their job, doesn't need a lot of individual direction, and Roy is that guy for me."
