VIDEO: Firefighters reported to the Village of Cottage Grove Thursday afternoon of a report of a fire at a house under construction. According to Dane County Dispatch, they received a report of a fire at the 2000 block of Damascus Trail around 1:05 p.m. In a statement released Thursday night by Cottage Grove Fire, numerous callers allegedly reported that the house was fully engulfed. Cottage Grove Fire Chief Nick Archibald requested a MABAS Box Alarm due to a large plume of dark smoke that was reportedly seen miles away. Officials confirmed that upon arrival, the house was fully involved with no one inside. The main body of the fire was reportedly knocked down within 10 minutes. Officials say that firefighters remained on scene searching for hot spots for another two hours.
