VIDEO: A Northwoods fire crew received a friendly gift from a fellow firefighter in Ashwaubenon. The Middle Inlet Fire Department were gifted a 1993 Pierce fire truck from Ashwaubenon firefighter Russ Van Rite. Van Rite purchased the truck for $7,500 when the Ashwaubenon Fire Department decided to retire the vehicle. “They were going to sell it, so I figured it would be nice to take a truck that I used for years, and try to donate that to somewhere up north,” Van Rite says. Middle Inlet only had one truck for their entire community before receiving this one, and it comes with some new handy features including a ladder that comes down from the side of truck to a deck gun that can shoot up to 1,000 gallons of water per minute. If it was not for Van Rite’s donation, Middle Inlet fire crews would continue to be short-handed.
