PHOTO: A house fire was reported to the Sparta Area Fire District on Saturday at around 8:42 p.m.
Crews arrived to find the two-story farmhouse fully engulfed, with trees and grass around the home on fire, as well.
According to Chief Mike Arnold of the Sparta Area Fire District, the home owners left at around 7:00 p.m. to go shopping in Black River Falls, and arrived back home only to find it on fire. They then called 9-1-1.
No injuries were reported, but the family’s dog and two cats were found to be perished in the fire.
The home was said to be a complete loss, and the Red Cross is assisting the family with any and all needs, according to fire department.
The fire was said to of started in the same area of a wood stove on the first floor.
