PHOTO: Firefighters say the occupants and a family dog got out safely when a duplex caught fire in Beloit. The fire started around 2 p.m. Tuesday in a duplex in the 100 block of Bluff Street, according to a Facebook post by the Beloit Fire Department. Due to the amount of fire, the age of the home and the weather conditions, the fire department called in other agencies for help. The Beloit Fire Department says the fire caused significant damage to the home. None of the people who live there were hurt. The American Red Cross is now helping the two families. One firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
