VIDEO: Winter is here. With another snowstorm hitting our area on Friday along with bitter cold temperatures forecasted for this weekend, Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance is ready.
"We have two full time fleet technicians making sure our vehicles are roadworthy," director Darin Wendel says.
The way they handle calls will change.
"You can't spend 20 minutes at the scene of a car accident if its minus 20 degrees," Wendel tells News 8 Now. "So, we might need to expedite them on the side of the roads, get them back into the ambulance a little quicker."
Wendel says he's anticipating receiving calls from people unprepared for the weather or stuck in a vehicle. Regardless, everyone needs to take precaution, including his staff.
