PHOTOS: A fire in Suamico on Tuesday morning caused around $130,000 in damages due to a mechanical issue.
According to the Suamico Fire Department, at around 11:45 a.m., firefighters were sent to the 12000 block of Velp Avenue in the village of Suamico, and after arriving on the scene, crews found two detached garages with smoke and flames showing.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities believe the homeowner was working on his vehicle in the detached garage when a fuel leak ignited the truck and spread to the garage.
The homeowner attempted to remove the vehicle from the garage, but the fire quickly spread to both detached garages.
Although large explosions were reported in the area, officials say those loud noises were from the vehicle’s tires exploding.
