An Apple Watch called 911 to alert authorities that a driver was just involved in a bad crash early Sunday morning.
Just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the Racine County Communications Center got an emergency call, but it was not from a person - it was from an Apple Watch.
“The owner of this Apple Watch was in a severe car crash and is not responding to their watch,” the automated message from the Apple Watch is heard saying to the 911 operator.
The automated message from the driver’s Apple Watch is all the information authorities had.
“It is bone chilling when that call comes in and you can’t ask ‘Where are you? Are you hurt? What happened?’ You can’t ask those questions. There is a very limited amount of information to work with,” Kansasville Fire and Rescue Chief Ronald Molnar said.
Thankfully, it is enough information to take action right away.
