PHOTOS: One person was flown to a hospital with burns following a house fire in Hixton. According to Hixton Fire and Rescue, they were called to the former United Methodist Church of Hixton a little after 3 a.m. Monday morning for a fire. The former church is now used as a house. When they arrived, they found heavy flames in the ceiling and walls. The person who was hurt lived inside the house and was able to make it out before the fire department arrived. No firefighters were injured. Hixton Fire & Rescue estimates more than 200,000 gallons of water were used to fight the fire. It came from the Village water system and the Trempealeau River. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
