Authorities in De Pere issued a reminder to the community after a house fire was caused by hot embers from a recreational fire being too close.
According to the De Pere Fire Department, on March 19 around 8:10 a.m., crews were sent to a reported house fire in the 2200 block of Glen Meadows Circle. When crews arrived, smoke and flames could reportedly be seen coming from the back of the house.
Officials say that no one was inside the house at the time of the fire, but a pet dog was rescued before authorities arrived. The dog was reportedly rescued by an off-duty firefighter.
There were no reported injuries from the fire. Officials say that the cause of the fire was hot embers from a recreation fire being too close to the house and other combustible materials.
The damage was estimated at $15,000.
