VIDEO: A Milwaukee funeral home needs the community's help after a fire broke out early Tuesday morning, March 19.
Firefighters were called out to Serenity Funeral Home, located near 42nd and Fond du Lac, around 3 a.m.
Many Milwaukee families come to Serenity Funeral Home to say goodbye and pay their respects to loved ones. When Keona Nowak's mom died last year, this is where her funeral was held.
"I’m just concerned about their well-beings and for the families that have people in there, I just want to pray for them," Nowak said. "It’s a very nice funeral home, so I was just checking to see what was going on."
Firefighters said no one was hurt or inside at the time. The funeral home said all the family members they have in their care are okay, but the damage on the roof and the second floor are extensive.
