A garage fire in Green Bay Wednesday required assistance from a HAZMAT team after two propane tanks were damaged in the blaze. Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to 1321 Argonne Drive on the city's west side at 10:45 a.m. for a fully-involved two-stall garage fire. Crews arrived on scene to find flames coming through the roof and heavy black smoke. A quick defensive attack was implemented to mitigate the damage to surrounding structures and knock down the flames. Once the fire was under control, crews discovered two propane tanks -- one 20-pound and one 100-pound -- had been damaged by the extreme heat of the fire and were slowly leaking. Green Bay's HAZMAT team was called to assist with the venting of the high-pressure tanks and limit potential danger. Officials said air quality readings were "monitored downwind during operations."
