VIDEO/PHOTOS: Every year the Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine (WARM) works with first responders to train for disasters. That training took place Thursday at Central High School.
La Crosse law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, Western Technical College EMS students, and La Crosse Area students and staff all participated in the staged active shooter drill.
It's to help them all identify what needs improvement in the event of a disaster.
"It's better to discover shortcomings or mistakes in a drill than in real life," WARM Site Direct and Gundersen Health System Family Physician Kimberly Lansing said. "It's been shown that the more people train for these things the better they do."
