Mountain firefighter, former Assistant Fire Chief David Wirth retires after over 40 years of service

VIDEO: First responders with the Mountain Fire Department honored one of their own on Sunday after one firefighter retired following over 40 years of service. David Wirth, who is a former assistant fire chief, has retired from the Mountain Fire Department after serving the local community for the last 42 years. "I started when I was in high school and that's when I joined. That was because my uncle was the fire chief and he talked me into joining to help out." David Wirth Mountain Fire Department Retired Assistant Chief said. Wirth was given an award for his service and he says he commends his family and the community for all of the support. Local Five was also told that Wirth was just 17 years old when he started with the Mountain Fire Department and that he is the first member of the department to hit this milestone.
