Thirteen injured in two crashes in Nicholas County

Firefighters said two wrecks in the Summersville area Thursday in Nicholas County injured 13 people, including 10 in one of the crashes. Ten people were transported to Summerville Regional Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash that was reported about noon at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Northside Drive near Merchants Walk in Summersville. Members of the Wilderness VFD responded to assist the Summersville Fire Department and found a van and sport utility vehicle had been involved in a crash. Flames were showing from the van. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. The Wilderness VFD assisted the Summersville Fire Department with a head-on, two-vehicle crash on Webster Road near Gino’s. Three patients were treated and transported to Summerville Regional Medical Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
