Although authorities have a suspect in custody for an arson they report happened last Friday, they are withholding the individual’s name. “We are not releasing any other details at this time,” said Steve Shine, Fairmont Police chief. Police are, however, asking the public to provide any information that may lead to the whereabouts of the jacket, shirt and shoes they believe the suspect was wearing when the deadly blaze was set. An unidentified woman was airlifted from a third floor apartment at 915 Gaston Ave. after the call came in at 8:10 a.m. on March 15. The victim was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for treatment of injuries as police said she was trapped in the building when the fire was started. Shine and his detectives took to social media Monday to enlist the public’s help in the crime.
