VIDEO: Monday the Clarksburg Fire Department participated in a class to be better educated on the types of smoke they see during various calls. At their station on North Ohio Avenue, a wood model house was set up to simulate various types of house fires. Captain Walter Knight knows this latest training will help the safety of his crew. “When they arrive at the scene to be able to look from outside the structure and be able to tell where in the building the fire is located so they have some idea geographically where they need to go to and how intense the fire might be even though the building could be sealed up or whether it would be a house or a commercial type of structure. Either way it gives them, I won’t say an edge, but it gives them a little bit of an idea of what they are getting into before they commit themselves to that hazardous environment.”
