VIDEO: Fire destroys RVs at Mike Thompson’s dealership in Santa Fe Springs

A fire destroyed more than a dozen RVs overnight Thursday at Mike Thompson's RV Super Store in Santa Fe Springs. Authorities responded to a possible burglary call at about 12:30 a.m. at the gated property on Firestone Boulevard in southeastern Los Angeles County near the 5 Freeway. Several RVs were in flames when firefighters arrived. Details about a cause of the fire were not immediately available. The property has several security cameras that investigators plan to check for video. No injuries were reported. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading beyond the dealership. A manager told NBCLA that the damage estimate is about $2 million. The family-owned and operated company started in 1972 and became a Southern California fixture with four locations in the LA, Orange County, Riverside and San Bernardino areas.

2 dead in South Sacramento house fire

VIDEO: Two people died after a house fire in south Sacramento Wednesday. According to the Sacramento Fire Department, the blaze happened along the 1900 block of Niantic Way, and it was under heavy fire when firefighters arrived. Of the victims, one was found dead inside the home by fire crews and the other was taken to the hospital but they died later on. “It’s heartbreaking for anyone in this situation,“ said Jessica Perales, who lives down the street from the home. She and her other neighbors were worried about what happened after hearing the sirens go by. "Terrifying, I felt it was scary for everyone in the neighborhood," she said. Sacramento Fire Captain Justin Sylvia said there were seven people living at the home. It's considered a room and board style property. The wind made the firefight challenging, but crews were able to keep the fire from extending to another home.

VIDEO: With summer and scorching heat just weeks away, Fresno County firefighters are preparing for what could be a very active wildfire season. When preparing for wildfire season, firefighters are normally seen running hoses or digging fire lines, but at the training at Mid Valley Regional Training Center in Del Rey on Wednesday, the focus was on communication. “Today is a simulation of really a CalFire readiness drill for wildfires…we have company officers and chief officers here today managing and running a wildland fire,” said CalFire Battalion Chief Seth Brown. Firefighters responded in real time over the radio, as a simulated fire developed on computer screens. Each firefighter in Wednesday’s training played a different role.
