Louisville fire battalion chiefs would get 24% raise over 5 years under new contract

The Louisville Fire Department has been working for nearly 10 months without a contract, but that should be changing soon. The city and Louisville Professional Firefighters Unions recently came to an agreement over the majors' contract, which represents 23 battalion chiefs and other leadership. Under the new contract, they would receive a 24% raise over five years, retroactive from 2023. The city also increased the amount of vacation hours and agreed to cancer screenings for members. The president of the union says he is grateful to Mayor Craig Greenberg for stepping in. "I feel like they understand and respect the need to take care of their professional first responders. I think you saw that with the FOP contract. I think you saw that with our contract," said Jeff Taylor. Greenberg said the city is appreciative of the work firefighters do in Louisville.
