Author: Steven A. Locke, EFO, CFO, Fire Chief, IAFC Treasurer

I have invested over 16 years of time and energy into several IAFC leadership positions to earn your support. My name is Steven Locke, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Second Vice President of the IAFC. I serve as the Fire Chief for the City of South Burlington, Vermont, the state where I started my fire service career over 35 years ago. I have worked in both combination and career fire departments and have served as a chief officer for over 16 years.

The success of your IAFC is my top priority and leading with an inclusive platform that represents broad interests from across both countries is the vision that I will bring to this position. My leadership experience and positions span from serving on the New England Division Board of Directors, as your IAFC Treasurer, and for the past eight years on the IAFC Board of Directors as one of the most senior members. My well-rounded experience will be very beneficial as your Second Vice President.

In 2019, I was elected by acclamation as the IAFC Treasurer and again reelected in 2022 with unanimous support. As your IAFC Treasurer, I am extremely proud of the work that we have accomplished together developing prudent financial practices to protect the future of your IAFC. Ensuring the financial stability of the IAFC will be a top priority for me as your Second Vice President.

I am proud to have support from IAFC President John Butler, past IAFC President Donna Black and many long-standing and respected members and leaders from across our great Association. It is my strong desire to bring my leadership experience on your behalf to the position of Second Vice President of your IAFC. I am asking for your support when voting begins on May 14. Please contact me at slocke@southburlingtonvt.gov to learn more about my platform to guide the IAFC and our great profession into the future.
