Texarkana, Ark. officials said the Regency House has been condemned since 2011, but Wednesday afternoon the roof collapsed. The building is located in the 100 block of Broad St. Crews blocked a section of the road off in front of the building until the structure can be demolished. At the time of the collapse, there was a strong odor of gas. Fire officials said it was caused by an unrelated gas line accident nearby. The Regency House was constructed in the late 1800’s. City officials said the building was in process of being turned over to the state. There’s no timeline for when the structure will be demolished. No one was injured when the roof collapsed.
