An area fire department got some great news from their latest ISO rating.
The Northeast Greene County Fire District had their first official ISO rating recently.
The volunteer department was previously rated at a 9 because they had never been formally rated- only one point away from the worst possible score.
But, after this assessment, the department dropped from a 9 to a class 5 ISO rating.
Chief Shawn Lenderman said the new rating means those that live in their district could see a lower insurance premium.
“As a firefighter, you try to you know work with your community, make it better in any way shape or form," said Lenderman, “In this way what we have done is we’re going to save a lot of our community a lot of money.”
