The body of 79-year-old Gassville resident John P. Heenan was found at the scene of a brush fire Monday night by a member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, according to a news release from Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery. The fire occurred at the end of Peace Valley Lane behind a locked gate. The firefighter found Heenan's body approximately 120 feet away from Heenan's 2004 Chevrolet truck. Evidence at the scene indicated Heenan may have succumbed to the fire, according to the news release, which said Heenan's truck received fire damage. An investigator with the sheriff's office responded to the scene, along with an official from the Baxter County Coroner's Office.
