The Fayetteville City Council voted to approve a City Board of Health to help with the COVID-19 pandemic during a special meeting Wednesday night.
The board will consist of five members and a City Health Officer who will all be appointed by Mayor Lioneld Jordan and approved by the Fayetteville City Council. Fayetteville City Attorney, Kit Williams, said the board will be separate from the city council and will help advise the mayor and city council members on the COVID-19 pandemic.
"They would be able to provide excellent advice to the city council and to the citizens of Fayetteville, and hopefully continue to create a good atmosphere where our citizens will wear masks and help us to get control of this pandemic," Williams said.
