Before the coronavirus pandemic, the Fayetteville Fire Marshal's Office would stop by restaurants and businesses for capacity compliance checks. Now, their visits include monitoring for social distancing.
“It’s busy and you know I feel like most places are making a good faith effort to follow the rules, however we can’t be everywhere all at the same time,” said Fayetteville Fire Marshal Jeremy Ashley. “For the most part, bouncers and bar staff are trying to keep track of people that come in and come out so we just verify that they’re keeping track and try to visually inspect that there’s still some room in the bar and it’s not overcrowded.” Ashley said he visited multiple bars in Fayetteville, not just on Dickson Street, the weekend of June 26, 2020 and said neither bars or restaurants exceeded the 2/3 total capacity requirement.
