Lightning struck a tree at a home in the 2000 block of Shadow Oak in The Oaks subdivision Tuesday morning. The lightning strike traveled a path to the home's gas line, causing a small fire, according to Mountain Home Fire Chief Ken Williams.
Firefighters quickly shut off the gas to the line and called for the gas company. Two other nearby homes were checked for damage. One of them, next door to the home with the damaged gas line, had several breakers trip, Williams said.
No one was injured in the 9:56 a.m. incident and other than a small section of gas line, no damage was immediately reported.
