87 wildland fire suppression kits have been awarded to a multitude of volunteer fire departments within the Natural State.
According to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture's Forestry Division, departments in rural areas of 46 counties were the recipients of the kits which are worth $303,904.30 in total.
Volunteer fire departments needing gear and other special equipment to address wildfires are a common dilemma, however these groups make up a great deal of support for Forestry Division crews.
Equipment in the kits are wildfire-resistant coveralls, gloves, rakes, and leaf blowers. Across the state, no less than 757 wildland fire suppression kits have been delivered to the select departments.
