A 54-year-old northern Idaho woman died after her vehicle drove into a river. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says dispatchers received a call at about 8 a.m. Monday that a driver of a Volkswagen had driven her car into the Spokane River near Idaho Street and Anchor Way in Post Falls. Rescue crews and divers found the vehicle submerged with the driver inside. She was pulled from the vehicle, but was unresponsive and taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. An investigation is underway, however, deputies say foul play is not suspected. She has yet to be publicly identified.
