Volunteers from the past 25 years gathered Saturday to celebrate East Side Fire District’s quarter-century of service to the community. Among those honored were volunteers who guided the district’s formation through its unique and creative path from conception to reality. Their diligence and hard work set in motion a Power of Community movement that has grown to this day as exemplified by the scope of services and record number of volunteer firefighters and EMTs. In commemoration of the event, the East Side Quilters presented to the ESFD Commissioners a beautifully designed and handcrafted quilt that had been in the making for the last five years.
