Bureau of Land Management fire crews are working to contain a wind-driven fire burning 17 miles south of Glenns Ferry. The fire was reported Thursday evening, and had burned approximately 400 acres as of 9:30 p.m.
Investigators haven't said what sparked the Black Butte fire, but thunderstorms did move through the area Thursday evening, prompting high fire danger.
Crews say most of the fire activity has died down, but that the southern flank of the fire is still active. Crews will work to contain that side of the fire Friday morning. The fire is burning in grass and brush.
There is no estimated time of containment at this time.
